undo the cap, then simply fish it out with your fingers.

If it turns out that it is stuck, then you need to pull it out by putting a thread down the inside of it... A spark plug tap is the ideal size.

As above, try a finger or dowel and if that does not work, take an appropriate large tap and start threading it into the back of the plug.  When it catches you can pull the plug out using the tap as a handle.

I have used a pair of  needle nose pliers before for this job, pop them inside the valve cylinder and open them so it grips and then pull :) Probably easier than a tap unless yours is really stuck

Would it be possible to remove the valve SEAT with the engine in situ without making too much swarf?

I have an internal expanding tool I made from a Dyna Bolt. Simple, and quick.

Why would you want yo do that?

Why do you think it is damaged?

I think I would be doing a rebuild again.

because the relief valve that Came out when i was doing the rebuild was badly scratched ( face of the cup was okay, but the side had 2 20 thou deep scratches, thats why the engine needed a Full rebuild in the first place, broken idler bearing) but I never thought about the.seat inside the Block that could be damaged, so Id want to check that, but its kinda dark in an engine bay..

As you have read Calvers artical yes it causes a mess. And if you are saying it is to dark to see the seat then you will not be getting any tools in there to get it out.

Your best bet is to buy/beg/borrow/steal a prob camera thing that you can stick on the hole to have a look.

But most damage is caused by using a ball instead of the proper valve. Damage on the side of the valve does not mean that the seat will have damage.

Anyway back to my question why do you want to remove it? You have not really answered it.

If everything is working fine don't play.
