Hi all,

Hopefully a quick one, I've tried searching but nothing coming up!

With the timing cover, I have just taken my old rusty lump off and it has no breather.. however most of the new ones have the breather? Is there much difference/advantange between the non breather/breather types. Does it matter which I choose to fit back in aslong as I use new oil seal and gasket?

Its come off my 1988 Austin Red Hot with standard 998 engine.

Thanks

Olly

998 - no breather

1275 - breather

there will be no issue using a breather on a 998 but remember to plumb it into your other breather on the tappet chest.

Well that was simple!

Many thanks!
