I've never had any experience with the fibreglass ones but i've found that the studs in the rubber strip and can be a real bar steward to take out.

I've been told by someone that the rubber ones flap about. And I've seen a few that looked rippled and can only assume they're the rubber ones.

Cheap copies flap about, genuine ones dont.  If going genuine, i would go rubber as they will be easier to fit.  If going non genuine I would go fibreglass.

Genuine rubber all the way!

The genuine one's a plastic not rubber.

If I was looking to fit a set I would choose either original plastic ones or fibreglass. I've seen a maybe 6 sets of the rubber ones fitted and all of them were rippled and sagging.

Early ones were hard rubber, later ones ABS. The same rubber as the skinny arches used on late '90s Defenders. They were definitely rubber because I knocked into one on the stand at the Motor Show at Earls Court and it flexed so far the paint all peeled off it in a sheet. Nobody from Rover noticed and I backed away quietly!

Thanks for the replies, I've bought a new second hand set of fibreglass ones off ebay.
