Hi all,

I Chris, from Dundee in Scotland.

I have a long standing love affair with Minis, from my first car back in 1999 onwards.

I've owned an MPI for about 4 years, but it's never turned a wheel and is stored outside so is in a bit of a sorry state.

I've owned the car twice, buying it back as a project, but ending up spending the time on another of my cars, which is why I sold the Mini in the first place - for funds to fix the other car!

Now the time has come to either fix it or sell it on, but I fear the old tin worm is too set in its ways, and a full restoration is probably beyond my wallet!!

Either way, expect lots of MPI related questions as I try to get her to at least run!!

Chris

Welcome to TMF.

Later cars do seem more prone to rot unfortunately

Good to see another Dundonian on the site - welcome to TMF.  At the moment, I count myself as Dundee's cultural advisor in Gloucester!!

You've got to get the Mini sorted, nothing like it for putting a daft smile on yer face - always works for me (including the several hours journeying to and from the L2B run)!

Hello Chris and welcome!!

The 90's minis rot a lot faster than the older models, would be an interesting project if you were to restore it, you'd possibly end up replacing pretty much every panel on the car, then again it would be another mini back on the road  :mrcool:

Will do.  I did register in 2009, and amass a fantastic 22 posts since then ;)

The amount of rot in later minis is a bit of a concern, I guess once I get it running again, I'll start to investigate further- -its parked (siezed..) in a position that doesn't allow a decent look underneath.  Definitely needs a whole front end though, I dread what's hidden underneath ;)

It's not about what you can see..... More about what you can't...... Structure wise...
