I have a 1989 austin mini 30 with a verto clutch.

Basically i have a firm clutch pedal but i still cannot select any gears at all.

The slave cylinder has got new seals etc

The throwout nuts are- now- 6.5 mm away from the "wok"- but were about 11mm away before it was adjusted ( It didnt work before it was adjusted)

what could be the problem here?

Cheers

You can only set the adjustment on a Verto clutch with a brand new clutch disc fitted, they are self adjusting in use and you can't accurately account for wear if you alter the adjustment of a used clutch. If it had got to the point where it was not working any more before you adjusted it then it should be replaced.

Ok so I finally got round to getting my flywheel housing off today. Found out that the thrust release bearing is knackered. Would this be the cause of not getting any gears when the engine is running?

I have a nice firm pedal but simply cannot get into gear. I can select all gears with the engine off.

I'll try an get some pics up tomorrow.

cheers

will do. Can't wait to get my car back out again. Been off the road since august. I'll get some pics for you tomorrow. As for the top hat, im not sure as I haven't looked at it in great detail yet. I'll look in more detail tomorrow and get back to you with some pictures.

I stripped the thrust bearing down and as you can see it has worn grooves in the plate. Its just knackered completly really. That will certainly be replaced. heres a few pics dont know if it will help?

How do i remove the flywheel and clutch. Remove centre nut and use a puller?

Cheers

remove large washer aswell use a small flat blade screwdriver to do this as sometimes it stuck tight then place the cup into end of crank then attach puller and make sure the bolt is up tight against cup then tighten ....(be carefull if doing this in car as it goes off with a bang and will dent the inner wing if doing this out of the cat then place a cushion under housing to catch fly wheel......PS have you checked the Master cylinder for leakage inside car above pedals theres a opening in where the pedals meet the cylinder plungers just feel the clutch and see if fluid is there.....
