Hi all,

With retirement on the hoizon I'm looking to get back into the Mini world. My first mini was a '69 'bitsa' Cooper S lookalike - a '69 shell with Cooper S running gear, 1275GT engine with 731 cam, cage, bucket seats, etc. Road rallied and hillclimbed it in the Aberdeen area in the late 70's early 80's until it's demise in a dark damp ditch!

Keeping an eye out for a similar example to get back into historic rallying, either ready to go or to build up from scratch......or maybe restore a nice mk1.

Paul (aka mapman).

Hello Paul welcome to the forum, that's a nice old picture you have there, would you be rebuilding your mini to the same spec/style as that if you can't get hold of a MK1? I bet that would bring back memories for you  :-)

I've seen a few MK1 rally minis come and go on ebay these past  few months this one in particular sold about a week ago and was quite a fascinating example http://www.ebay.co.u...cvip=true&rt=nc

If you keep on top of the listings your likely end up with a nice project

I left Aberdeen 20 years ago after I was transferred down to the West London area with work. Still here now but with no interesting cars to play with.
After road rallying and hillclimbing the Mini I rallied a Talbot Sunbeam then switched to a Maguire spaceframe special saloon Stiletto for just the hills. Did the National Championship for a few years......then the family arrived!

Keeping an eye out for an early mini I can recreate into a historic rally car or maybe just recreate my old one. In the meantime I'm acquiring and replacing all the tools in my garage I used to rely on being able to borrow I the past.
