Speedo is 19% over reading because the gearbox has the wrong pinion/worm ratio (cable is turning at 1445 TPM!). I'lll be changing them when the ones I have on order arrive, but hope to do it without hauling the engine out.

QUESTION: Do I have to remove the whole speedo housing, or can it be done just by removing the pinion housing (A) and the blanking plate (B)?

Yes, I know it'll be a pain of a job (move the radiator out of the way, undo engine mount/braket, lift that side of the engine a little etc) but thatnkfull it's a steel flip front so that should give me a little more access to work in.

   Cheers,

   Colin.

P.S.

SImplest way to sort it would be to ditch the spedometer and replace it with a digital one, but I really want to keep my old center speedo.

Yes, pull the radiator and then the engine mount and bracket, then you can get to the adapter block and eventually the speedo drive cover plate.

You may need to lift and drop the engine at times to get some parts past the subframe, but this can be done with the engine on a trolley jack.
