You probably don't, both your block and the pistons would have to be in top condition, with little wear, to make them worth fitting - with new rings. Even the standard production pistons will stand some boost, more than Metty Turbo had as standard. Getting a minimal overbore and using 21253's is likely to be your best option, unless you're after extreme horses, in which case there's be a lot more expense than just the pistons.

Building from the bottom up is always sound practice. Turbos don't need revs to make power, so the reciprocating parts (pistons & rods) aren't as critical, but strapping the centre mains bearing is worthwhile: along with the usual refurbishment. Have an idea of where you want the CR to be so you can buy pistons that won't require a huge amount ground out of the head to get it down. Around 9:1 is practical for a road car, especially with an intercooler. The Metty Turbo was 9.4:1, the same as many other A+'s.

Thanks for the link and advice
My thoughts where to rebuild the metro turbo engine
There is a set of P21253-60 for £130 available, unused? (8,4cc)
Leave the metro cam in and lightly flow the head
And run about 5psi
Question is metro t3 or a renault t2?

The gearbox is the weak link, defo upgrade the diff and check everything else over. 5psi is very modest, both T2 & T3 are dated, depends on what manifold you use. A GT17 on a fabricated manifold (such as mirage's) will also save you cutting the bulkhead for clearance. Plenty of info available google turbo-mini
