My Mini is currently Blue and the underside is underseal black, I am in the process of getting it back on the road and will be painting the Subframes and Underside and later getting a re-spray.
The underside will be treated with Jotun Jotamastic 87 Epoxy Primer and U-POL Gravitex followed possibly by a Top Coat to help when washing of Road Clag from the underside.
The Subframes will be painted with POR 15 Grey possibly covered with Waxoyl.
Obviously this is all down to personal choice but what is the general opinion on colours choices for the underside and Subframes i.e. what works and what is positively not good.
I would like the Subframe to be a different colour to the underside so that it stands out, I was thinking of keeping it POR 15 grey of top coating it with a gloss grey unless the POR 15 is gloss? I understand that POR 15 is NOT UV protected and although its under the car a Top Coat may be needed? Was thinking just using celly paint?
Does painting the underside the same colour as the body work, or does it look better if is contrasts?
Like I said the Mini is currently Blue however I was thinking of changing it to Almond or Lychen Green with an Old English White roof with possibly Cooper White Bonnet Stripes? I know its only a 998 and its not in fitting with the model but I like it
Not part of the question but to help with the painting, i.e. being able to see whats been painted and what has not, I was thinking of trying contrasting layer colours, the Epoxy is Grey and U-POL Gravitex comes in Grey / Black and White I think.
Any opinions / advice would be appreciated.
