Have you got a close up of the nose journal, and each side of the 2nd/3rd idler thrust face?

Mainshaft looks knackered, assuming it is as pitted where the input gear bearing sits

The small end of the mainshaft i can feel a small lip

Swear this mini will be the death of me or my bank account.

Whats the rest of the box like? Syncro hubs, dog teeth on gears etc. Looks like its been underwater! might be better off starting with a different box in better condition for rebuild.

I wouldn't be happy putting that back in, although I don't have all that much experience with gearboxes. But even I can see that's knackered.

Reminds me of my diff pin when I removed it!

Also check the beaqring that runs on this and the inside of the 1st motion shaft that runs on this journal.

Ill go have a look now since the gear box has been stripped and stored in bags all labeled so ill go find it

Ac Dodd  Bearing and 1st motion shaft and the shaft inside as well looks same as this shaft, can tell its all no good.

Absolutely FUBAR. 

 

I'm afraid with mini gearboxes you tend to open a can of worms. A lot of amateur mechanics shy away from the gearbox but are happy to touch the engine. I often find the gearbox has been left and the engine has been replaced at least once.

 

Baulk rings, double roller main bearing, lay shaft, main shaft. They're the usual problem areas. 

 

Differential always worth replacing the pin, always
