Gears Issue

If i put my mini in gear with the engine off and rock it backwards and forwards get no resistance it seems the wheels turn but the engine does not....i have just changed the clutch and oil seal on the crank and removed the primary gear for inspection...what have i done wrong....lol

It appears something is wrong with the clutch as it is constantly disengaged.

Did you install the washer/keyway under the main clutch bolt to prevent the clutch from spinning on the crank?

Have you run it since changing the clutch?

All went back together as it came apart i have not run the engine yet as was setting tappet clearances when i found i could not get the valves to open and close by putting it in gear as i usually do it just rolls around with no resistance....could it be to with removing the primary gear.......looks like it will have to come apart again....
