Hi everyone,

I am after some advice please. A while back I noticed that I had some play in the front wheel when I moved it at the 12 and 6 o clock positions. Does this mean the wheel bearing has play in it or is it the top ball joint? I can't feel any play in any other positions it only seems to be in the 12 and 6 o clock positions, which is why I thinking it may not be the wheel bearing. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

It could be the balljoints, try greasing them, if it reduces or goes away youve found the problem

FYI Greasing them may reduce the play but it shows you need to replace the joints, dont just regrease them and call it fixed!

Thanks everyone. So by the sounds of it, it's more likely to be the ball joint rather than the wheel bearing?

Yeah, id advise doing both sides ( 2 per side)

Keep the old shims, they are reuseable

Its a play it by ear situation, but safest answer would be to replace which is why I said it :)
