Been done many different ways. To save a lot of hassle, look through the websites of some U.S. Hot Rod parts companies. They make many hinge kits to replace hinges or build custom doors.

upside down mounted bonnet hinges of a mini?? would open out and down and should work shouldnt they.

Not knowing much on this because i don't have a boot (pickup), why not get some bonnet hinges and have it mounted on the side? so it opens like a door? and stick a bonnet cable pull so there doesn't have to be a lock or anything? (put a spring to make sure it opens).............. I hope that helps...... i really want a normal mini now...... maybe i'll get one when i finish the Pickup....
