Hi Guys,

One of my hobbies is scale modelling (hence my user name) and I have undertaken to build scale models of several famous Mini's. I will be building the Monte-Carlo winners (all 4 of them) and the 3 Italian Job Coopers.... and eventually a conversion for 621 AOK the first Mini and the final Rover Mini.

Now for the Monte Mini's I will be using BMC colour RD.9 Tartan Red with WT.4 Old English White Roof, all pretty much standard.

My question is on the Italian Job trio as for a start they do not have contrasting roof colours which I thought Cooper's did. Does anyone know what are the codes for the body colours?

I'm going with the following colours at the moment but are they correct?

Red:    RD.9  Tartan Red

White:  WT.4  Snowberry White

Blue:    BU.44  Riviera Blue

Any thoughts?

I thought they were

Red:    RD.9  Tartan Red

White:  Old English White??

Blue:    BU.8  Island Blue

I have no idea why they didn't have contrasting roofs. I thought all except the very earliest Coopers had these. The cars supplied for the film were late mk1s pretending to be mk2s I thought.

Thanks lewBlew,

The BU.8 Island Blue does seem to be a closer match than the BU.44 Riviera Blue.

I thought that Old English White (WT.3) is a bit too 'off white' whereas the Snowberry White (WT.4) is more whiter.

I think those colours are bang on but there are loads of shades of Island Blue when you google it. Incidently, the cars were mk1s with made up plates to look newer; they should have been mk2s on a G reg.
