1974 - Mini 1000

Hello guys,

I'm going to be replacing the doughnuts in the front suspension, as they're pretty flat, and I'm moving across to hi-lo's

Does anyone know whether my car would have been produced with metric thread cones or imperial?

I know they stopped producing the imperial cones around '72 - but stocks weren't used up till '76 - as my car is slap bang in the middle of this date, what are the chances of it having metric thread cones?

I need to buy the cone spring compressor, and I'd rather not needlessly buy the more expensive "double action" compressor if it's not needed.

Is there anyway I can check beforehand?

Look forward to any help you can give me!

Cheers,

Matt

You could just buy the metric one and if it is imperial, cut off the end and weld the correct imperial bolt to it.

You could check if they are metric using a length of 14mm allthread. Unless your car has been off the road for a while there is a good chance they could already have been replaced sometime in the last 40 years with metric. They only last roughly 10 years before starting to sag.
