As a newbie to minis I wondered if someone could answer my question.

With a standard engine can you simply replace the existing exhaust with something a little more sporty and better looking? I do like a central exhaust.

Are there any good recommendations and would it need extras?

I think I may have found an answer.

I see this looks like what I would need although it's not central.

When you purchase a manifold, specifically state it is for an auto, some manifolds will foul on the back of the auto gearbox, and interfere with the kickdown rod.

Also don't go too big 1.3/4" is about the biggest you should go on a 998 auto, anything bigger will just stifle the engine and make it a very unpleasant drive.

Be aware, the car will become louder, if exaust is being changed
