Hi guys,

 

I have a somewhat urgent request I'm hoping to have your help with... 

 

I'm trying to get a Mini bond titled here in the states, and I'm running into a bit of trouble convincing the fellow at the motor vehicle division that my Mini's markings are genuine... which is to say, I have a Morris VIN plate, as well as the stiffener piece in the engine bay stamped with chassis number (last 5 of the "VIN").

 

So we left the issue unresolved, and I told him I would be able to produce some photographic evidence that these cars do indeed have frame numbers stamped on the "stiffener" in the engine bay... see reference image embedded below...

 

So, I realize some of you probably have a number on your chassis but its buried in rust, paint, grease, or blood/sweat/tears - but if any of you guys have one that is exposed, could you kindly shoot me a photo of it and post it into this thread? I hope with a few more images of this artifact, he should be satisfied.

Cant say I've ever heard of the number being stamped there before.

same here - never seen that before - it looks like its etched , or an ink stamp

 

wonder if other Mini factorys around the world did it

Check inside the rain gutter just in front of the wiper mounts, usually on the right hand side stamped into the bottom. I've never seen it on the stiffener in 20 odd years of being in the motor trade!

Cant say I've ever heard of the number being stamped there before.

My 3 cars certainly dont have any numbers in this location( they are circa 1990)

just checked on my 1989 - nothing

 

maybe just a select few then

 

but wished there were more stamped ID on the mini's

I think it'll be difficult to see unless your paint is thin, old, or (like me) you physically remove it. Nt asking anyone to remove their paint though...

My mk1 has the chassis number stamped here, I think it was only pre-'69 Morris cars have it.
