I made a list of cars a few years ago i'd never owned but would like to, I've been slowly working my through this list and the classic Mini was number 9.. I was only up to number 5 (A VW Beetle) when i unexpectedly came across a great little Mini at a good price locally so out went the Beetle and the Mini jumped up a few places on the list!
I can only say that I wish id have bought a mini years ago! I've had many, many cars of all types over the last 20 years and this little 998cc Mini has me smiling like a teenager every time i get behind the wheel. Slow, but you don't need to use the brakes when cornering and i spend all day looking for mini roundabouts to chuck it round at 30 mph. Love it. Feels like you're doing 60!
It's a 1988 Mini Mayfair that's had a full body resto in 2010, although I think it now needs a light freshen up. Some of you might already know the car as I came across a couple of threads on here from a previous owner.
Im going to sort a few minor rust issues, change the colour, upgrade the engine to a 1275cc (I think.... or maybe go the whole hog with a 1380cc. Cant decide. Any advice welcome!) Then i'll start on the interior, but thats a way off yet.
I'll drive it around until the MOT runs out in October and then I'll start the strip down.
Cant wait..
I'll be on here asking all sorts of questions so i apologise in advance for my ignorance on all things Mini..
Here's some pics of the new love in my life.
