Cheers ben ,how yours getting on ?

I'm away at the moment housesitting so nothing is happening although i have bought the back end of a mini cooper from another forum member which i am dissecting for panels so that is keeping me busy while i am here.

Looks like your build is going to be quite involved, looking forward to following it. Would be great to see it looking like your sig. mini.

Best of luck to you.

question for you boys and girls is where to start?

i was thinking of taking lots of measurements and bracing across the floor ?

is there a specific order in which i should do things ?

thanks Mark.

So picked up some replacement trumpets today, for next to no money, as mine have seen better days , but the flange on them is smaller than the ones that came off the car, can i still use them ?

It depends how much is being replaced. Bracing is only really necessary when you cut huge structural members out of the shell.

Basically pick a job and do that before moving on to the next.

Try not to start too many bits at once as it can get a bit overwhelming

Thanks ben, my feeling at the moment is its gonna need a complete floor, toeboard, bulkhead etc as there is rust everywhere, might cut the front end off and start from there ...?

Thats a good place to start. wings and front panel off out of the way.

Advice though, don't thrown any panels away until you are finished as sometimes they have brackets, tabs or mounts on them that you don't realise you need until the car is painted and things don't go back on..

Can be a pain trying to store old rusty metal but worth it i think especially if there are screw holes or cut outs in the old panel that the new doesn't have. Useful to keep the old for reference or as templates.

made a trolley for the engine too so i could move it into the workshop instead of having it in the garage.

(ps sorry for all the pics , let me know if they are too much!)

all the best Mark.

The more pictures the better, gives other people inspiration to continue doing their projects!

Keep it up!
