so finally an update , floor arrived from minispeed , and have just ordered the complete front bulkhead which should be here by the end of next week.

im going for genuine panels, as im hoping they will fit together better,

im also planning on fitting complete inner wings with the A panel attached , if anyone has any advice on this ?

My repair panels came today for my rear subframe .
Gives me something to do !
The subframe has been blasted in the past but i would like to get it galvanised and then painted in 2k

Looks good but i don't really like the way they have fitted that rotodip conversion panel to the bulkhead.

Cheers myredmini!

I know ben , but i would rather have a panel that didnt have rust running through it , plus mine had a weber box cut into it so looks better than that !

Took the left hand side panel off the subframe today, it was super clean underneth which is good !
And welded the new panel on , think im going to do the other side too, had to plug weld it on in the end as my spot welder kept tripping the house electrics !

Was going to get it galvanised but had a quote of £250 , and i would have to give it to them blasted which would cost me more money.
Now it will have a couple of coats of zinc rich primer , and two coats of 2k

Update time , ive been busy with the new house decorating , hasnt stopped me buying bits and working on the mini though, here are a few bits i bought.

Genuine rear subframe mounting brackets for the rear

imagejpg1_zps6f6da2f0.jpg

This is the genuine rear bootlid , needs some work as it has some spider webs or rust and a few dents that need sorting , plans are to get it blasted and get "the mini hospital" to sort the dents etc out for me .

imagejpg4_zpscbb72117.jpg
imagejpg5_zpsd273230e.jpg

Cant really moan for £51 though !

Alloy inlet that has been polished and flowed
Bought an alloy carb spacer for it too.
imagejpg2_zpse9f978ae.jpg

JacckKirk sorted me out this closing panel for the rear valance , for the price of postage !
Thanks matey !
imagejpg3_zps9e6b4ca0.jpg

And i have been working on the rear subframe i got from Jordie , genuine frame that was sandblasted before i got it but the rust was starting to come back through, so i had it skimmed over with blast to get the rusty bits off and bought x4 subframe repair panels, now its nice and solid again and no rust, paint isnt just primer is cold galvanising spray that we had a load of at work , question is now do i paint it in 2k or stonechip then 2k ?

Spending the rest of this year collecting panels and parts then the real work begins next year.

Thats all folks ........

Really impressed with your effort! i only wish i had the knowledge. Will keep following your progress on this.  I guess it will appear a little like this one driving round northampton when done :-)Attached File  1658.JPG   86.61K   7 downloadsAttached File  1483.JPG   42.33K   2 downloadsAttached File  565.JPG   70.72K   7 downloadsAttached File  1055.JPG   50.19K   7 downloads

update time,

(sit back and relax its a long one , sorry folks)

bought a 10" mountney steering wheel off ebay that needed restoring

20141103_191721_zpsdhpvzkz7.jpg

20141103_191743_zpsynuy8oui.jpg

20141103_191731_zps0fiibtyb.jpg

stripped the black paint off the centre as i was planning on polishing it,

imagejpg1_zps32399e1a.jpg

but the alloy wasnt in the best of condition with lots of deep scratches/chips

so i decided to blast it instead.

imagejpg2_zpsc843348b.jpg

then i bought a leather restoration kit from here

http://www.leatherre...-Kit/p/11581055

the kit is very good , it comes with alcohol to clean the leather, as the ones on ebay are just a dye etc

the wheel has had 4 coats of dye, 3 coats of gloss finisher and 1 coat of matt as it was sooo shiny lol.

here are some pics of the finished wheel including a new boss for it.

imagejpg9_zpsa761a2c3.jpg

imagejpg8_zps70536b33.jpg

imagejpg11_zps5c07636e.jpg

im happy with results!

while i was surfing ebay saw a nice speedo surround that needs some attention as i like a bit of wood (oooh eerrrr)

imagejpg13_zpsdaa98e41.jpg

this is it after i had taken all the old varnish and brown paint off it

imagejpg12_zps710d1d49.jpg

and here is is complete, its had 10 coats of laquer, the first two coats just soaked right in!

DSC00745_zpsef0541ce.jpg

did a bit of blasting the other day too

here is the gearchange housing before.

20141028_095555_zpsia8dklfg.jpg

20141028_095547_zpsbdtqduaa.jpg

and after, (still not happy with it im going to get it aquablasted)

20141028_120206_zpsvxu6dfs0.jpg

20141028_120154_zpsxuwcndhl.jpg

and picked up some lucas glass indicators of ebay for a bargain price !

DSC00747_zpsffb5450b.jpg

and finally, this weekend i picked up some front wheel bearings , grease gun and rear shoes from a chap in b-ham.

and met Leadly who sorted me out with these lovely panels.....
