sit back and relax , big update time!
Speaking with AC on here got some great advice about my engine, he said to strip down completely , boy was i glad i did!
here is what i found.
one very poorly engine
so it looks like it needs boring out to the next size up probably 1293 but will get it measured first to be double sure, could do with a new cam as the lobes are worn, and the crank is knackered as you can see , not too fussed by this at least i know it will be done right.
while the engine is in bits i had some parts aquablasted.
before
After.
some parts ive picked up in the last month,
new non spacered rear drums , painted with 1k gloss
and a mk3 indicator stalk, (on mine the clamp was split and was very worn etc)
and today picked some bits from Bingley!
finally found a 1975 wiper motor, plan on rebuilding and restoring this
new felt bush for my steering column
Genuine Heelboard that i ordered in advance from MInispeed (thanks boys)
Magnam rear valance that i got off Axor36 for £10 thanks mate!
Radius arm rebuild kits
upper arm rebuild kits
some new lamps to go in my Polished (work in progress) number plate lamp
lower arm pins
powdercoated 1.5 bottom arms
plan on buying a plating kit this week so i can finally start my long list of stuff to plate

Those powder coated bottom arms look really good. I was going to paint mine because i didn't know how the powdercoating would look but i think i might go that way now.
How much does Aqua blasting cost?
Cheers

That's the way to go then!
Mine look worse than yours did at the moment.
I have tried to clean them up but i only done about 5" squared in about 40 mins so defiantly going to send them away.
Cheers for that

got more done recently.....
took all the horrible black paint off the rear valance , (for anyone doing this i can recommend petrol and red scotch pads, comes off a treat) wear appropriate ppe people!
and painted with galv spray.
finished my hi-los, polished the bodys and replated the nuts and bolts
replated my shafts, came up quite good!
finished my rear light, think it needs another final polish.replated the original screws and used new lenses.
plated the subframe bolts
rebuilt my top arms , all suspension parts have been sand blasted , primered in galv spray and painted in a couple of coats of 1k chassis paint,
new bearings, pins etc.
got some parts back from the powdercoaters
all done in satin black.
and found a fuel can which i thought was nice , had it blasted and just needs painting, was hoping to get some petrol resistant paint , but only stuff ive found is petrol resistant laquer, thinking saitin black for this too.
currently restoring the wiper motor which ill post some pics of soon , hoping to start the body soon, no point rushing things and im getting old so dont like the cold !
sorry for all the pics , memory is not good so nice to look back and see what i have done!
all the best Mark.
