Hi all
My rear number plate is not screwed it's glued on? What would be the best way to remove it without damaging my paint?

If it is glued on then the chances of getting it off without damaging the paint are minimal.

If its stuck on with that double sided foam tape then you can gently heat it.

It all really depends on the type of glue that was used.

I guess you could try to heat it from inside the boot from behind and see what happens.

Are you sure it is glued on? Most number plates are either screwed on or stuck on with double sided tape/foam tape.

Pull it a bit and see if you can see behind it, I think you'll find it has been taped on.

I removed mine with my wife's hair dryer. Heat it up on one side whilst gently pulling. Then move across the plate to complete the process. If you've a helper you could apply heat and remove the plate with some strong dental floss in a garrotte fashion.

you could try to slide a saw blade behind it to slice through the glue like a hacksaw blade. i have not tried this and you would need to be careful though as may cause scratches aswell

Some bodyshops stick them on with Tigerseal......if so pull away while gently cutting through the sealant with a sharp blade being careful not to touch the painted surface below. When plate is removed you can carefully remove the remaining glue.....

Dumb question probably, but are you not going to replace the numberplate in that position so any damage would be therefore be hidden? However, it would aggravate me knowing there was damaged paint underneath ....
