Hi

Just wondering if this would be good for running in oil...

http://www.diy.com/n...5?skuId=9227684

It would only be in there for 100 miles then filter/oil change

Would be fine for 100 miles id imagine!

I use comma classic, but the oil pressure at idle drops within 8 miles from 60 to 40psi

Half of that is at 60-70 mph

I was advised by people much more knowledgeable than me to use Castrol Classic to run in on.

I certainly wouldn't put that Weasel P**s in a brand new engine just to save £10.

Always use a quality 20w50 mineral oil at all times in a Mini, even for running in.

What cooperman said.

Comma sonic is £18 ish delivered from amazon. What's the point of penny pinching over what is arguably the most important component ?

I thought that if you use good oil to run in with, it won't bed the bores in?

I've always used top quality oil to run in Mini engines for over 50 years and I've never had a failure of the rings to 'bed in'.

Cooperman was actually one person to recommend Castrol Classic to me, for running in. Drop it after 100 miles and start using Valvoline VR1.

That's what I do with modified engines, changing at 100 miles and again at 600 miles. Then it's Valvoline VR1 20w50 mineral.

For standard engines I usually run in with Castrol 20w50 for 200 to 250 miles, then drain and fill with the 'good stuff'.
