Hello!  :-)

I'm hoping there are many of you out there that know a lot about designers and if anyone has one that is still completely original?

I've had my Designer, (a black one) for nearly 2 years, it has a few bodywork bits to sort out, seems the engine needs to be replaced in the near future too.

I've decided the plan is, to restore the body work and engine sorted and to get her back to fully original specification. I have a few documents within Emily's history which give me a majority of the specifications to get her correct.

She hasn't been changed too much from standard, she has a white roof and grille that will need to be changed back to black and all the trim is now chrome, which will need to be 'Nimbus' grey.

Does anyone have or know someone with any Nimbus coloured trim that they no longer need? I need everything! or what the paint code is? there are odd bits on ebay.

Does anyone have a fully original one that they can put up some photos of the interior, the seat badges (mine have worn away pretty much!) everything on the dash, clocks and all switches, I think mine is correct, but always worth a check.

Also gaiters for the gear stick and the handbrake, what do these look like? and the speakers that should be on the parcel shelf? the specification mentions a rear floor mounted ashtray, which isn't there, could be under the carpet (which isn't original.) maybe?

Window tint, how tinted should they be?

I'm sure I've forgotten a few things,

Any advice or help I really appreciate.

Thank you, Chloe  :-)

Ours had a restoration before we got it, and all the trim has been painted, so it matches on the car, but is possibly darker than original trim. Would be worth joining this facebook group, as you might find some other Designer owners have some spares! Plus there are some very original cars on there.

Rear shelf speakers should be the 'pod' type, although we don't have those either :)

Need to get some better shots of ours to upload, will do the interior when I get a chance so you can see the (2 clock) dash in all it's faded glory. Signatures are long gone from our seats though I'm afraid. Good luck with your project!

Nimbus trim is like gold dust.  Rover Hurricane Grey can be used to get a reasonable match, and I know some people have had chrome headlamp rings etc powder coated.

Ah yes,

I have now got the paint code for the nimbus grey so hopefully will be able to do the headlight surrounds etc with that, managed to buy some nimbus door handles and a boot lock set on ebay last night! :D

The grille surrounds are a right pain to find! thinking it might be worth getting the grille and the surrounds I've got powder coated! I've found a couple of local places that do it, will have to see what the cost is!

This is getting really exciting! I've managed to get a few bits ordered now, collecting the new engine on monday so the work will start soon!

I'm sure when I went to Bingley Hall 2012 there was a lady with a White Designer on show inside, fully restored and original! I'm sure she had the red seat patches, they were definately not worn off! Does anyone know her? I wonder if she had them remade?
