Oooh. I wouldn't put a jet wash near an engine... ! I bought a H20 steam cleaner from Poundland which has been really excellent in cleaning my engine bay up.

I wouldn't use a jet wash, I've killed an electronic ignition unit using one to clean my engine, as well as removing paint! Get a load of spray on engine degreasent (the cheap stuff works as well as gunk), a brush, (alloy wheel cleaning ones work well) and a bucket of warm water. Simply apply a load of degreasent, scrub with the brush and rinse the rest off with warm water. Rinse and repeat until you have a shiny engine.

Just wouldn't jet wash any engine, let alone a Mini one. You'll be forcing water into places it shouldn't go and no amount of WD40 will cure that. Steam or degreasant.
