Tie Rods

hi all,thinking of making some thicker and stronger tie rods for my mini,has anyone got by any chance a sketch or drawing,or just the dimensions to make these,i work a cnc so wouldnt be a problem to make,also what are the fors and againsts of doing this besides weight gain and what sort of diameter should i go to.pot holes in my area keep killing the tie bars,cheers guys

Not worth making them, get these from Mini Spares at around £26:  21A1091

But, if fitting them for rough roads, it is wise to reinforce the front tie-bar mountings on the sub-frame, known as the tie-bar ears, by welding 4 mm thick triangular steel plates to support the 'ears'. If the tie-bars don't bend the loads go into the 'ears'.

Maybe better have the tie rods take the clout than having something else more critical take that stress.
