Oil Pressure Or Oil Temp Guage..? Fight!

Hi All,

I have an MPI Cooper and shortly after I got it (12 years ago!) I added a smiths oil pressure gauge, and a Volt meter (Magnolia with black needles)

With the re-issued 90BHP Cooper conversion being released, I'll be saving my pennies and getting one. I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to the originality of the car, so when I get the kit, should I swap the oil pressure/volt gauge to the original oil temp/volts with the orange needles? (I'll have to eBay them)

Not being rude but why are you getting the 90BHP kit? You could get more power if your willing to spend that sort of money and it would still be nice and driveable

oil pressure gauge pretty important to have

Exactly, because you can have oil at the right temperature but nowhere near any bearings, whereas a pressure gauge tells you its being forced through the bearings and the temperature to a point, and the condition of the engine to a point

If you're willing to do the conversion I'd say it takes you away from being a purist, so in that respect you'd be fine to keep the pressure gauge 😄.

Pressure gauge it is! Save me £100 quid on eBay ;)

I want the new 'S' kit as I always wanted to officially upgrade it to an 'S' (with the plate proper badges etc.), but they stopped doing it before I could afford it. :(
