I've never been so excited about a car before....ever!!!
A mate of mine bought this a while ago and asked me to do the welding on it for him, in the meantime him and his Mrs split up and it became available. One day he popped round my house and asked if I wanted it................Hell Yeah!!!!
He's a june 1960 car and has been off the road since 1976/77. His last MOT was about then(which I have). I've got a folder with some details in and history, including a letter from a deceased estate asking for the car to be disposed of. He's a base model Austin 7 in Speedwell blue. I've yet to obtain a heritage certificate for him to find out his exact build date but he is an early car. No window recess, welded seat mounts etc.
Looking around him there are a ton of differences between him and and ordinary mk1, he really is very original.
As you can see from the pictures, he's already been stripped and shotblasted. Rot wise he is excellent, he still has the original wings, sills etc.
I plan on saving the wings, the edges are just so sharp and defined, I'll never get that by fitting new panels. I may change the A-panels and there is a fair chunk of work in the boot. Plus load of other small/medium repairs around the car.
I still have to pick up the rest of him, the only major things missing are the seats and interior.
Plans....
A vtec, 13" rims, sportspack arches etc!!
Nah, no way this is gonna be a standard rebuild. 850 engine, drum brakes etc. The only deviations may be a set of cooper rims and getting rid of the single leading shoe brakes. The rest will be as the factory intended
I'm in no rush to get him done, over this winter I'd like to get him welded and prepped for paint, maybe even paint next year. Then an engine rebuild and the rest the following year.
The plan is to keep as much of the original parts as possible.
