Removed my handles and locks today and found a couple of hints I think should be shared. Hope this helps!!
1 remove door furniture
2 remove door cards
3 dowse all srews with WD40. Remove 4 large head screws that hold the lock/latch (usually white) mechanism. I find the easiest way is to use the largest cross head bit on my 'multi screwdriver' and then attach it to a rachet and socket rather than use an impact hammer type screwdriver .Mark position of lock with felt tip or similar.
4 remove screws that hold the internal door release/handle mechanism and lock mechanism
5 You can now access the 2 screws that hold the external handle to the door. One is under the white lock/latch mechanism (on lip of the door) you need to wiggle the lock/latch out of the door a little and the second you can see from the access hole (easy to get to). If you can’t see them look inside the door at one end of the handle and the second screw is at the other end under the lock/latch.
6 remove the little external locking mechanism clip. This is located at the very bottom of the lock/latch on the arm attached to the locking mechanism.
7 you may need to move the ‘arms’ attached to the external handle and wiggle to semi remove the door catch mechanism
8 remove the circlips that attach the internal handle and the internal lock from the lock/latch mechanism. Be careful as they have a tendancy to ‘shoot’ off!
Everything should be removed!! If you're doing both sides like me you might want to mark either the driver or the passenger side components , just a thought!
Hope it works for you ![]()
