Lexus stretch looks mad. Not hating, looks a sweet Lexus, but don't you think that stretch looks a little silly? Especially in the pic of them on the car

Then again it might just been the profile of the tyre as mine looks as stretched, but mine just more chunkier

Just worked out that the tyre "thickness" of a 155x70 is 108.5mm and 145x70 = 101.5mm (I think these are right).

You could probably gain more room with a 175x50 profile (87.5mm).

Personally I don't know about the legal implications of having stretched tyres but the handling must be poor compared to when the tyres sidewall is being used as it should.

I saw a VW with stretched tyres on the motorway the other day and it looked good from the side but as it moved in front of me it looked like he had bike tyres on, very little contact and grip with the road.

Ian

I'd done some similar calculations as well but it's the unknown factor of the radius formed from the sidewall to the tread caused by the stretch.I did calculation based on 12" rims with correct sized tyres but without having some to try I'm not convinced this will solve my problem either.

I'm not struck on the look either Megamini_jb

Does anyone live near Burton-On-Trent who has 12's fitted and would be prepared to let me try them ?

I am in Tamworth and happen to have a spare set of minilites sat in my garage. You are welcome to come over and try them.
