I love my mini more than anything else, but im starting to get fed up.. i don't seem to be able to drive it even for a week without something happening to take it off the road!
Whether it's someone vandalising it or just something else going wrong it just keeps happening.
Dont get me wrong I expected stuff to happen being a mini owner, but take the last week...my electrics have failed on me, fuel gage stopped working again, car ignition stopped working and now to top it off the radiator has blown! Only just back from the bodyshop fixing a dent somebody put there too :(
Starting to struggle with the cost of it all :/
Someone cheer me up haha?

Haha it was beautiful and shiny after its recent bodyshop trip... but then steam starting pouring out of it and now it's stuck at work in the car park so can't see it at all :(

Hey, I feel for you. But all the more reason to have a go at fixing it yourself. When you do you will feel like you can sort anything out. A rad is pretty straight forward to change and they are cheap to buy compared to modern cars.

Mine is the same mate so don't stress! The last few weeks have been good, but now he's started juddering again while driving so i need new points fitted, also i need new shocks and ball joints as the near side front wheel keeps knocking! He also needs a service and the m.o.t isn't too far off! cost cost cost, but i wouldn't sell it in a million years! I could get a modern car that's reliable etc but where's the character? where's the fun? What new things would you learn about engines if it broke down? You driving a Mini isn't just about owning an old car, i think it says a lot about a person, you're quirky, like to stand out from the crowd, you're proud to be British! They have a lot of bad days, but the good days make up for it!

To be honest I'm not entirely sure as I was a bit late for work, but it didn't look good with steam and liquid all over the place haha

I know exactly what you mean, when everything is working I feel the luckiest person in the world to have my mini, but when it all goes wrong I can feel quite different haha. But inside me I know I'd never forgive myself for selling her! She's still my pride and joy I'm just having a fed up moment :P. And that's spot on about mini owners and they're personality :D thanks that's made me feel a bit better!

Although it can be a pain in the butt owning a mini, I just couldn't bare the thought of getting rid of it, i wanted one from being a kid and eventually I could afford to buy one, and i bloody love it! Takes me back to when a local mini garage let me play in their mini's! That smell of petrol and the old switches etc.

The kids around here absolutely love it and one lad who's only about 8 told his mum about it and she's agreed to let me take him for a spin in it because he's so eager to go in one! When you pull up at shops etc kids just come straight over like 'wow' look at that old mini! I've had old people come over, younger lads into cars, even chavs come over to comment on it! There's not one person who has ever disliked it. No other car could ever get the reception that an austin mini gets. Enjoy it :D

Same with me, loved them since I can remember! The only thing that made me learn to drive last year was that I had seen my mini and could have it if I passed lol.
And definitely true, I can't go anywhere without attention and I love it! Don't think iv ever gone in a petrol station without someone talking to me about it :)
Once she's fixed il love her completely again haha.
To be honest it's also the hassle of 2 mile walks plus train journeys to get to work that annoys me the most.
