How do I find out if i need a Metric or Imperial compression tool. My car is a '84 if that helps!

They come with both imperial and metric threaded rods, I believe yours will be metric at that age.

Yours will indeed be metric.
Some one mentioned to me that cone life is expected to be around 6-8 years before they need replacing due to the rubber deteriorating, so based on that the majority of cones are probably metric now.
My 1967 was metric.
Minispares sell an excellent tool, search for Tool07 in their search bar. This has replaced my faithful home made item.

Mine is an 84 too and had metric cones when I replaced them earlier this year

Coolio, I all ready have the imperial one so ill get the metric one :)
It would be false economy not to put new cones on at the same time?
