Do they fail lit or unlit? How fast do they flash?
Indicator flashers are normally closed and open when the current flowing to the bulbs warms up the bimetallic contact breakers. Too much current (low circuit resistance) and they'll cycle rapidly, fatiguing sooner - too little (high resistance) and they'll spend more time closed, heating up.

I would question the quality of the parts, lots of the electrical stuff is coming from the far east and is built for pence, condensors is another item that now fails far to often due to poor manufacturer.

My morris minor was eating them, I tried a modern one electronic with an earth connection, it lasted longer but blew again, in the end I decided it must be the dynamo over powering it when letting off and indicating at 70 plus mph! I decided to fit an alternator conversion kit and a brand new flasher unit, I was tempted to fit the new flasher when it came but like a good boy I waited until I had the alternator in place a few weeks later, new flasher unit faulty stright out of the box, had to fit the old one that is working but the tell tale does not and it is still in there, I am going to try an electronic one again now as I have already got a clean earth with a spade fitted nearby from before and an alternator now rather than the dynamo........
