    One Carb Or Two?

hi guys.

basically im looking at rebuilding my engine but im not sure what parts will work well together.

i have a 1330 block with sw5-07 cam, vernier duplex timing gear but the rest is pretty standard. I am not looking for the performance as such. more of the reliability with a little bit of performance added.

questions:

1. can i have a 1.5.1 ratio rolling rocker with this as im not sure if a high lift cam and high lift rocker is a bad idea? maybe to much lift??? lol

2. what clutch would you advise along with the housing and flywheel housing etc. pretty much that whole setup.

3.i have a mega jolt system, so which manifold etc do i use.

4. is there a more reliable alternator.

5. do i need a starter motor (maybe a stupid question lol but im a noobie)

6. what pistons would be best to buy (one of the ones i have has a burn on the edge)

7. are electrical cooling fans and an oil cooler worth getting and how do you fit them.

i think that is all. sorry im abit of a noob but we all have to start somewhere. any help would be great.

p.s can you change a car to servo from cylinder setup and vise versa and what one is better?

Thank you SE

I'm putting Minispages Mega pistons in my 1330

Not sure the 1,5 rollers give you any extra and may make it worse.

Need more info on the other items like what alternator do you have and what's the problem?

Don't bother with roller rockers, they may give you a couple of bhp right at the top, but you'll lose power lower down.

Instead put your money towards a decent ported and polished head.

Are you going to run megajolt or megasquirt, as megajolt only replaces the distributor

5) yes
7) fans possibly but cooler unlikely on road car

Servo is in addition to master cylinder and you can get separate remote ones. You will also need a vacuum take-off from the inlet manifold

Its megajolt. I was told its better than mega squirt.

I have a ported head. If rolling rockers are not reliable then I wont bother but will the lower ratio ones act the same as the standard. Ive heard there more reliable at preventing some wear and tear....

If it's a megajolt, then you need either a throttle position sensor, or a mass air pressure take off.

You can run any carb and manifold

i didnt think i needed a carb because it comes with a ecu system???

Megajolt, you don't need a distributor, megasquirt, you don't need a carb

Standard are about 1.2:1, rollers come in 1.3:1. What they will be is more accurate and and wear in the rocker fingers will be corrected.

Ok thank you so getting a 1:3:1 rocker would be bettet.

Can I fit megajolt and megasquirt systems together or is megasquirt just better im sort of confused now as I qas told megajolt was a much better system but carbs are nothing but trouble.

Not been on for a while so abit of a late reply sorry

Megasquirt can do both injectors and ignition circuits. You'd need to get some injectors and a suitable manifold, or just buy a kit similar to this:

I'd suggest you do a lot more research into what you want and what is possible before spending any money...

Ok i have been advised to get rid of the megajolt because i want the ignition and fueling system and apparently specialist components or someone like that do a full system which i thought would be alot handier.

so far i think i will go:

1330cc block with my ported head

swiftune sw5 cam with duplex timing chain

lightened flywheel

omega forged pistons.

5-speed gearbox

now all i need to know is can i run a supercharger with the ecu and fueling system without the carb or is there another supercharger i would have to use.

Im so useless at this haha
