I'd like to fit the gps unit from a range rover into a mini can it be done as a straight swap

Apart from the obvious size issue which is easy to work out, the key is to find out if it is a self contained unit or whether it feeds from other electronics such as the ECU as lot of OEM stuff does these days. The easiest way to get an idea is to look how many wires feed it, if its self contained then I would expected a permanent live, switched live, earth and aerial, if there is a massive wodge of wires then chances are its going to be a pain. If it is self contained then it should be relatively simple.
