Hi All,

I've been browsing the net looking at some filter options for a set of twin HS2 carbs I bought this week. They don't include an air box or any elbows, so the simplest options at this moment are:
Twin Cone/Pancake filters with stub stacks
http://www.minispare...ir/56-1630.aspx
http://www.minispare...ir/56-9335.aspx
Or
MED/ITG foam filter thingy
http://www.med-engin...ub-stack-system

I'm not a big fan of the foam ones, and I was wondering about getting an oval K&N and making a super sized pancake to cover both the carbs (similar to the backing plate on the MED system). Then I found this:
http://www.aptfast.c...r Kit Complete
They are also on ebay US for $121.99 plus $40 shipping to Australia...

Which looks exactly like what I wanted (except they say Midget or Sprite on them). It's not very expensive and it's got built in stub stacks. I know the carbs are on a different angle between Minis and MG Midgets, but is the carb spacing the same and does anyone think this would fit?

Here is a photo of the backing plate. The holes are in a very similar location to the MED kit. The filter size is 321mm wide by 83mm tall and 60mm thick:

Hi Tim,

You can also buy K&N filter elements that fit straight into the original twin SU filter box.
This gives you a nice original look, with less induction roar than the open filter types in your post....just another option to think about!!!

Cheers, Steve.

Steve, I had thought of the standard air box, but I don't have one, or the elbows to mount it to the carbs. They don't come up for sale here often, and they are pretty pricey too!

It's only a weekend car anyway, so it doesn't need to be too refined

Hi Tim,

Yes thats true, they're a little hard to get hold of here as well!

I have this set-up on my '72 Mini and it's very quiet with regard to induction roar.....mind you I am getting on a bit so like a quieter (if that's possible!!!) Mini now.

For a weekend car what you're looking at seems fine...good luck with it!

Cheers, Steve.
