This webpage has some info on them: http://donnlee.com/2...er-mini-cooper/

Have you though about getting the system fixed, oftern its just the key fobs that are getting a bit old and worn by this age, there are quite alot of companys stripping and rebuilding the key fobs, making them work like new.

Stop posting comments looking a way to bypass the factory immobiliser on a public forum.

No worries,
As you are quite new on here, we are of cause a little wary of giving out details of how to get around security systems :P an electrical engineer/alarm specialist may be able to come out to you and help, or maybe your local mini garage, or even local mini club.
Id always recommend fixing it, even if it may cost a little, minis have never really been very thief proof, and the immob is the best way to improve that. Ive been having some issues with mine, it just not switching off when i push the button, sometimes i could be 10 mins pressing it waiting for it to work, I had a mate of mine who is a computer repair guy solder in a new crystal to my keys, this fixed the problem.

Have you tried resetting it by pressing the lock button 5 times and then pressing the unlock button.

Sorry I was a little harsh in my response, several issues could cause the problem you describe.

Remember many mini issues are related to wiring and the MFU (relay box) can be a source of trouble.

I would be checking the wiring to the MFU as it contains the starter relay unless you are sure it is the lack of signal from the ECU which is preventing the starter turning.

Best to have it fixed as MiniGrin has quote above. The main issue with the 5AS is normally the keys fobs themselves.
