Hi I am all new to this,

I currently own a 1979 mini van in beige.

He is called Murphy and is undergoing a restoration as living near a cliff has not done him any favours.

I am joining for advice and to gain knowledge and once Murphy is finished I would like to go to mini meets and shows.

Murphy at the moment is heartless....

I have taken the engine and gearbox out and after lots of digging around I have found an ex-Longman employee that has set up on his own.

Living close to where RIchard Longman was based prior to closing I was hopeful that someone could give me the same quality of work that Richard was renowned for.

So this morning I headed over to Brett Sims Motorsport in New Milton (just around the corner!), and took the engine with me.

I had ideas in my mind of what I wanted to get out of my poor little 1000cc that hasn't had the easiest of lives.

I was stunned that Brett Sims is a one man band with the amount of brilliant reviews that I have found, obviously I have chosen to take it to the right place. Because of the amount of work that there is already there Murphys heart wont be touched for a week, then hes going to strip it an adivse me.

I must admit I was in awe at a clubman sat there.... and I wish I had the funds as its got a 16valve? head on it and he started it when I was there, OMG almost pooped myself, it sounded like some racing motorbike!

Anyway back to the point, if there is any advice people can help with on the body, wheels, tyres, suspension etc then please do help.

thanks

Van Doll

Do you have any photos of murphy that you can post up for us to see?

Good luck with your rebuild

I have a couple pictures, Murphys body has left me today to go and have some work done....

Hopefully I will be able to get some pics of the progress.

Hello :)

Murphy is a good name :D  I like him already and it's always good to hear that someone is looking after an old mini.

How big of a restoration job is getting done then?

I'm sure you'll find lots of good advice on these forums to help you along, if I get really stuck I ask a question and usually you get loads of good answers, there's always someone who has been there and knows what to do, I'm still learning though :genius: . Thanks doods by the way!

Murphy is all stripped and the body shell and replacement panels have been taken to all be done, he is having a full restoration, but he is going to have a little modernisation with disc brakes and stiffened suspension, I am trying to upload pics, hopefully it will workhttp://s1266.photobu...eljo11/library/

I am hoping this has worked! I am no good with technology.
