7/16 BUT it doesn't matter because you won't be going out and buying any old 7/16 screw (NOT bolt) to hold your seat belts. You will be going to a seatbelt specialist or a Mini specialist and buying set belt screws which are of a specific strength and hardness. They are designed for the purpose and are more or less universal across all makes specifically because they are seat belt screws. So you don't need to know what size they are, you just need to order seat belt screws. If you want shiny ones DON'T buy stainless no matter who is selling them, buy chrome plated. If you can't find them at a Mini specialist contact FDTS Ltd in West Byfleet who are very helpful, or try Smiffy's Bits for chromed ones. Incidentally if you choose to source your own screws for the job that are not marketed as seatbelt fixings or aren't to the correct standard you are breaking the law and the offence carries a mandatory jail term and huge fine not just some points and a slapped wrist. Sorry if this comes across as heavy handed or over the top but it's a very serious subject.
