Hi guys,
When my car is in heavy rain it starts to sputter and struggle, not it's usual self after a nice rolling road tune!
The rain cover is in place. Is there anything else I can do to ensure it's reliable in the rain?
Cheers,
Sam

Take the cover off then remove the distributor cap. Dry it out thoroughly with a heat gun or hair dryer.

Re-fit, then seal the cap with a non-conductive silicone grease plastered all over the cap where the leads go into it and around the join line between cap & distributor body. Finally spray with ignition sealer then re-fit the water shield.

Cheers cooperman - I'll try that out! I've only got the car for a few more months so I'll save off the electronic ignition for this one.

I've always run points ignition because that is required for historic rallies and I don't run with a water shield as it restricts quick access to the front of he engine.

I waterproof as I've suggested and I can go through deep fords with no problems and no hesitation. You can use an aircraft control cable grease or even Vaseline, then liberally spray with Ignition Sealer.
