Removing Ballast Ignition Wiring

Best Answer KernowCooper , 14 July 2014 - 11:58 AM

Yes just run a new white wire from the Fusebox where the feed from the ignition switch connects left hand top fuse 1 ( 4 fuse Box) when viewed from front on the car to the Coil + terminal.

Its connected to the white wire off the fusebox, but its quite a job unwrapping the loom all the way down and retaping, far easier to run a new 12v feed off the white on the fusebox and either retape it in with loom tape which I do, or run it along side a tape every 6". If you take it out it means undoing the entire loom from fusebox to front of the car, which I have done if the customer wants to pay the extra.

So basically leave the ballast wiring in the car just tuck it away and then run one wire from the position of the white wire to the coil? I assume that it needs to be disconnected from the soleniod

It won't hurt if the yellow/ white is still connecting the coil to the solenoid (when cranking), but it won't gain anything either.

In This loom both the wires exit in the same connector

Ok, still won't matter if it's attached to the (correct) terminal on the solenoid. You could even turn it into a security feature - if you immobilised your ignition, it'd still attempt to start until the key is released, confusing potential hot wirers.
