can anyone help?
working on my brothers mini today and took it out for as drive for about 3mins in no traffic just went round the block,
the problem is the temperature gauge went upto to 3/4 of the way, in that little time!
thought that was very strange!
the engine didnt seem that hot the top hose wasnt very hot, BUT the heater hoses were very hot, could they be a problem?
also topped up coolant and he revved engine and water came out top of radiator(did have the cap off)

termostat might be going funny.

and water will come out the rad if you rev it. the pump sends the water to the buttom of the rad then its go's up. with no cap it go's straight out.

what sort of mini is it. if its an injection one i think they have an electric fan so that might be on the fritz but that should come on when its hot anyway.

anyway. theres my suggestions.
