Hi,
I recently purchased a 1980 mini metro as my next project, when I dug into the history I found out that the car predates production but I have yet to find out what it was used for so we will see as we dig further.
Anyway the car it's a 1980 MiniMetro basic so yes a real poverty model, it's ermine white with a paprika red vynil interior. The car has done 40,000 miles and has a full history to back it up, it need a pair of sills, front panel, pair of wings if they don't clean up and a bonnet. It may also need a few other localised repairs when I get the car in and stripped down. Plan is to get it on a spit and try to get the car as close to concourse as possible. I started by getting the car running smooth as it was stood for a number of years, swapped the starter solenoid to get it to start on the key, and I must say now starts first flick! Also began to clean up the spare interior that came with the car. I have also been collecting nos spares to put on the car once ready. Any way will let the pictures do the talking:

Anyway realise it's not quite a mini but comments and opinions are welcome.

Thanks Josh

Do you have a build date?

There are two Metro boxes in the archives at Gaydon that contain the build details of the very early Metros. Colin Corke found them and a month or so ago, I spent an afternoon in the reading room with a couple of friends going through the boxes. They are very interesting :-)

Nice project, well worth saving such a rare Metro.

Just after the Metro launch in 1980 I hired a brand new 998cc Metro and drove it to the South of France (St. Tropez) for a holiday......as I did not trust my old Mini to get there and back !

Early metros are thin on the ground, nice to see them being preserved!

Interesting motor. The minis successor never got the credit it deserved. They were brilliant cars.

Hi,
Not done much on the car other than sort the clutch out with a new slave cylinder, I have started to rebuild the original cylinder ready for when it is rebuilt as to me originality is key.
I have also been collecting original parts for the car:
