bought this mini back in september last year, the plan is a full restoration with a few modifactions

 

heres how i got it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

so then the strip down started

 

 

a few pictures of how the underneath was,

 

 

 

not to sure how this happened,

a quick wash off revealed this

 

the rear subframe off the car.

 

the subframe stripped down

 

 

what was found getting subframe ready for paint. it has been fully fixed and is as good as new, dont have any pictures of the repair im afraid.

 

 

the undermeath ready to get underseal and the surface rust gotten rid off.

 

the engine being stripped to be removed

 

 

 

looking a wee bit sorry

 

 

the engine and front subframe removed

 

 

the front subframe stripped down

 

 

the front subframe painted up

the underneath getting worked on.

the underneath primed

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

and finally being underseal, used dinitrol. great stuff and very easy and clean to apply.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

and onto the engine bay

the shock mounts bolts snapped in 3 of the 4 bars. had to be remade and tacked back in the engine bay, pretty tidy job done.

 

 

 

and fully painted.

 

 

 

the rear valance is one of the parts that needs to be replaced.here it is being removed.

 

 

 

removed.

 

needs a small bit of attention on the boot floor.

 

 

the back subframe built up and put back on the car.

looks great, is it going to stay pretty much standard? colour, decals etc?

Yeah. Its staying brown, planning on a white roof to break it up and make it stand out a bit more. The paint is very faded. The shade will be like what's now in the engine bay.
