Evening All,

 

Changed one of the front cones yesterday (doing the other one on Friday), went well but once I got everything reassembled, wheel back on and car on the deck I gave the wheel the usual 3 and 9 o'clock shake and felt a knock and a slight bit of play which I am pretty sure was not there before (although I can't be certain).

 

I had the top arm out but otherwise I did not remove anything else.

 

Will be having a good look at it on Friday so if anyone has any ideas or pointers etc. as to what this could be, all help is appreciated!

Try your track rod end. If not have a good look at the ball joints.

I will be doing the ball joints on friday as one on the other side needs doing so will do the lot, not sure it is that though because when I found the other one knocking I checked that side & didn't hear anything... unless breaking the taper to get the top arm off has knackered it or course! Is that plausible?

Check your top arm could have play it in now some grease has been taken out of it.

Check the ballpoint pin is properly seated back in the taper and torqued. And the TRE if you disturbed it.
