It was all going so well once they had found the right drop down option (rover/austin/morris/mg) on the machine......

Then they found out the sensors would not operate properly and caught on the arches etc :(

What are my best options for checking it out myself do we think?

I wouldn't let Kwik Fit fit dust caps on my car to be honest. I would get it to a Mini specialist, for example one local to me would be Slark Race Engineering. Then you get someone who knows what they are doing with experience and isn't just reading off a computer screen.

It is going in for its MOT soon so I might get the garage that does that to do it if it either passes or only fails on minor stuff ,if it needs loads of work I am going to rebuild the car so no point setting the tracking anyway, I think they still have old fashioned kit to use.

I dont have any adjustable parts on mine other than track rod ends anyway, I would of been happy with the old clip on mirror jobs.

A lot of places can't track 10" wheels, I had some trouble last year getting it done.

these new hunter machines do struggle with very small wheels and tight arch fitment,

Would you trust a Quick Fit Sh*tter, or a Halfrauds, sorry but ask the public in general, or trade there is no confidence in either, when I was the Sales manager at ATS we had people apply from both to join, and their tales about how each person who comes in the door has a target price on his head. To the trade neither are considdered propper outlets its just the way it is.

I must say the manager at my nearest branch is fairly sound, the lady in front of me had an exhaust blow that was not on an exhaust fitted by them and they fitted a new clamp for free, didnt even charge her for the clamp (and was a big one!). They took my morris 1000 tyres off so I could get the wheels powder coated for free too, I took a pack of chocolate digestives in for them.

A lady had a clamp fitted for free ! we've all been there  but we end up paying, and when she left they said come back again, birds and bees springs to mind. Obviously there are some honest people about, but not many in quick fitter land?

If you have a couple of milk bottle crates and two straight lengths of metal or timber, plus a tape measure you can easily track it yourself. That is what I was taught to do back in the '60's and it worked fine - still does.
