If you mean the large round pin that holds the front Subframe Mounting Trunnion in place, I believe they are used to hold the trunnion in place using a special tool whilst doing up the nut?

Yes that's exactly what I mean, so what tool would you use on refitting

I use the tool for removing discs from my grinder. I've got an adjustable one which is spot on.

I did see a blog where a lad used a set of mole grips to hold the shaft through one of the recesses in the Subframe. (Just found it again here)

I got a 2x1 aluminium bar and drilled two holes in it to match, Put a couple of bolts in the holes.

You don't really need to use anything, new rubber bushes hold the pin tightly enough to fasten the nut and it doesn't really matter that the bush will end up slightly twisted. The factory used a special wrench but it's not essential.

I just used a pair of grips with a bit of rag in the jaws so i didn't mark the pin.
