I have a 2001 mpi trying to release the aux belt so I can take the alternator off. I've slackened the square adjustment bolt which is supposed to release the tension so the belt can be released. However the tensioner isn't lowering the bolt is just moving up through the bracket. Any tips. I'm guessing the tensioner isn't sliding down for some reason is the a way to move it without the adjustment bolt?
Help. Need the engine out today!
Thanks

There's a bolt in the middle of the pulley that needs slackening off too.
