Hello you lovely people....
As the topic says, ive sourced a reasonable ex Metro A+ engine but its on an auto transmission.... i want to put my manual box onto it.
Is it fairly straight forward or is there a lot different?
I guess im only really worried about the flywheel swap, the drop gear fitting onto the crankshaft and the dowel holes in the gearbox flange to block.

The engine thats there at the moment is a 998, so will the 998 flywheel fit onto a 1275 metro crankshaft?

Any advice is welcomed, as id like to get any bits i need before i start the job.

I dont think so, i know for a fact the mini auto is different

Can't be done you need a manual engine and gearbox

i think it can be done but requires a lot of work including block machining to allow oil ways to line up which will cost more than just buying a good 1275 manual.

It can be done but requires a decent amount of machining work and isn't really finically viable.

Ive just gone and jumped the gun and bought the 1275 engine with its auto still attached....

I had no idea the blocks were different....

 

So.... what is the actual re-machining work that's required? Is it a serious amount of work or really not worth the hike in cost?

I really appreciate the responses here.
I think id be better to wait for a decent manual block unit then.
Thankfully the guy ive bought from has been a gentleman and will refund me.
