Ok before we start, I have not intentions of selling the car, valuation is purely for agreed valuation so please no offers to buy it, thanks.

I would like a valuation of the car listed below so that I can get that valve added onto my insurance, the company I am with lets me set an agreed valuation of my choice assuming its within reasons. It is currently insured as a modified mini built to cooper s spec. I asked the MCR to do it but they where not interested in the car as it was not a proper cooper s.

The car started life as a July 1967 mk1 deluxe auto, probably one of the last few mk1's made as it also had a lot of mk2 bits on the car such as boot lid, rear side windows etc..., it was used and abused until it came to me with a manual 998. I have since undergone a full restoration building it to a cooper s 1275 spec. I have also converted this car to dry for reliability and availability of spares. This car has been built using as many original parts as possible, although a few bits are modern repro bits, like the interior. I think the car is very close to a real cooper s spec, obviously without cooper s on the log book. Passed boths it mot's since rebuild with a clean ticket.

I am yet to rolling road the engine, still building some ST H4's for it.

What a beautiful car and it's a credit to you.

To me it is a real Cooper 'S'. It is to full cooper 'S' specification & configuration and if used in competition it would be classed as an 'S'.

Value? I reckon £20k plus.

By the way, be careful with the 16 blade fan. They were notorious for causing overheating on the 'S' at high cruising revs as the 16 blades then suffered from 'discing, also known as 'cascade effect' where there are so many blades they effectively turn into a solid disc. The thing we used to do in the 60's was to fit a 4-blade fan (later a 6-blade Export fan).

I would agree £15k is all its money if it was to be sold. Amazing the difference a log book makes. I can't see it being worth £20k to be honest as only the purists and enthusiasts will invest that kind of money and not on a re-creation IMHO.

I sold my 65 mk1 in March which was a similar build and condition(concourse). I sold it as it was too nice for me to use and I wouldn't take it out if there was any sign of rain lol! I didn't get back any where near what I spent on it but close to my estimation above.

All that said it would be difficult to replace as its a one off.

I was under the belief you over valued a car by a little bit for insurance valuation purposes? I would probably be trying to get it agreed for about £20k+ or near to that and seeing what the insurers say. But that is one beautiful car you have there!

Lovely to see a car in that condition on the right plate too many MPis out there on 60s and 70s plates.

The car would be very hard to replace or recreate so the value should reflect that.

For an insurance valuation, I would start at something silly like the high £20s, and see what they come back with.

Got it from minispares about 3 years ago.

It's not very easy to bend round the tight radius but I got it fairly good in the end
